Lost two girls to their families

Where does time go in this world
Living on the west coast as a small town Albertan girl
Life is an upstream battle, in cold dark waters
South from the Columbia
Where the caribou where once slaughtered
Here I stand now, for the past sixty odd years
The number is not important, no I came here with many a fear
No one spoken to, no eye contact made
Fresh off the west bound Grey Hound, a few dollars saved
Dreamed of heading out west, with a close companion of mine
Packed our bags to Vancouver
It was myself I was trying to find

The snow dust circles, the memories of late
Wondering down this vineyard path of fate

When pain is out of reach and difficult to grasp
Looking upwards gripping onto that flask
No one surrounds you except a sea of black
Never feels to late, the sails have past
An ocean of struggles, a sea of tasks
Stacking up like dominoes of Halloween masks
No more sugar highs, its all downhill from now
No longer in Edmonton, no sidewalks to plow
Moments on White seem like a distant time
When tree transplants roots unwind
Thoughts will think and thoughts will dwell
Bartender shouts last call on the ocean swell

Into the darkness shade of grey

Dogs may run, cats may scurry
Under night fall rats will bury
Heads in the ground wondering down the hall
Animals in white sketched onto the wall
Words painted in blue, red and yellow
Phases turn into screams no conversation is mellow
Complicated dialogue and over dilute salutations
Car stuck in reverse, headed to the station
Time is of essence, every breath is a test of patience
Conductor yells last call, no more hesitation

In a small town between two hills
There are some bushes that will pay the bills
The dogs have not been fed for a while
Never got to adopt a small african child
The snow sounds silent, like nothing at all
Floors are clean with artwork on the wall
The wind in this windowless room hits the face like a whip
Your the lone passenger on this soul seeking grave ship
